1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
1 pound ground chicken
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
Nonstick cooking spray
1/3 cup marinara sauce plus additional for serving (optional)
1 package (8 ounces) fresh mozzarella cheese, quartered crosswise
4 hamburger buns
1.Prepare outdoor grill for direct grilling over medium-high heat. In small bowl, stir breadcrumbs and butter.
2.In large bowl, gently mix chicken, garlic, seasoning, salt and pepper; form into 4 (1/2-inch-thick) patties and spray both sides with cooking spray. Place patties on hot grill rack; cover and cook 8 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 165°, turning once. Turn off 1 side of grill; place patties on unlit side of grill. Top patties with sauce, cheese and breadcrumb mixture; cover and cook 7 minutes or until cheese is melted and top is lightly browned. During last minute of cooking, place buns, cut side down, on lit side of grill; cover and cook 1 minute or until lightly toasted.
3.Serve burgers in buns with sauce, if desired.
